Hello Cultured Curvers.
My name is Linda Peavy, and I am the founder of Cultured Curves. I have been passionate about beauty and fashion for many years. As a plus size girl since the second grade, I have lived in this body for a long time. This year, I celebrated 56 years of being alive. As a God-fearing woman, my faith has carried me on my journey.
Regardless of my size, strangers constantly compliment my attire, hair, make-up, etc. I decided to use these compliments to empower others. This blog is my calling and will allow me to provide style, fashion, and beauty tips to curvy women over 50. Most importantly, it will help me to encourage, inspire, and motivate you to live your best life in the present. See the video below for a special message on why I started this blog.

Live in the Present
I have been hearing this buzz phrase “living in the present” for some time now. But, I have only recently fully understood what it means, especially as a plus size woman. This site is not going to give diet tips or guidance on how to lose weight. It is about accepting who you are right now, being grateful for it, and exuding that joy to the world. Tomorrow is not guaranteed. YOU are enough as is. Even if you are on a journey of weight loss, great for you, but right now, it is important to love you and the skin you are in. My life begins and ends with self-love.
As a former publishing executive, I have traveled around the world in this skin. I was forced to keep my head lifted high even when I knew I was the biggest person in the room, often the only woman, and almost always the only person of color. It gave me self-esteem that I did not know I had. I learned to love me as is. I want you all to do the same.
Don’t Believe the Magazine Cover Hype
We plus size women ARE beautiful. We are bombarded with imagery that says otherwise. We are inundated with magazine covers of unattainable body shapes. It is so easy to feel bad about ourselves or that we are “less than.” According to society, plus size women are less than worthy, and especially if you are over 50.
You are Fierce!
Well, we curvy women over 50 will not go to sit in the corner. We are vibrant, beautiful, awesome, energetic, and fabulous. I want you to be encouraged by this blog and the words and imagery within. This is a body positivity zone. As a Christian woman, you will receive nothing but love when you visit culturedcurves.com along with classic and chic fashion and style advice. I will make you look your very best because when you look good, you feel good!
Who is Linda?
Besides embarking on this blog, I have operated a marketing, publishing, communications, and literary firm for over ten years. I have worked with several celebrities along my journey…all wonderful.
A lot of my time is spent writing professionally; therefore, it is great to write for fun. I am single and have never been married. One day, maybe? While I do not have children, I have a host of nieces and nephews! I live in Northeast Ohio and LOVE football. GO BROWNS! I have a large family of many brothers and sisters and love to gather for big loud and fun family outings.
My hobbies include watching movies and traveling. Because of my passion to see this country, I have traveled to 40 of the 50 states. It is on my bucket list to travel to all 50. Most of the new destinations will be in the American Northwest. Of the 40 states, I believe the most beautiful (outside of Ohio) is Colorado. I had the pleasure of taking a train to the top of Pikes Peak. Hawaii is pretty terrific too.
I have traveled to Chicago and Orlando the most, probably 20 times to each city. My favorite international destinations are Paris and London. I have also traveled to Germany and Puerto Rico. My most recent trip was to the Southern Carribean in November on an eight-day cruise to St. Lucia, St. Kitts, St. Martins, and Barbados. We sailed out of San Juan, so I had the chance to visit Puerto Rico again.
I love movies and have seen many more than twenty times. Categories that I love include mystery, drama, and a little bit of horror. A few of my favorites are The Ten Commandments, Ben Hur, Silence of the Lambs, Barnyard, The
